Please Note:
This article is specifically aimed at Merchants who wish to enable our integration with Privy.
You will need both the Happy Birthday app and Privy Shopify app installed into your Shopify store to take advantage of this integration.
Once you have enabled the Privy integration within the Happy Birthday app, you will need to either add a birthdate field to an existing Privy popup, or, create a new Privy Campaign.
This guide will walk you through the necessary steps.
Adding the birthday field
Login to your Privy account.
Create a new Privy Campaign or select an existing Campaign and then go to the edit screen.
Select the Form tab.
Hover over the Form Fields segment and then click on the Click to edit link/icon to the right of the input field/s:
Click on the Add Field button/dropdown and then select Birthday in the Customer Attributes section:
Select the format of Birthday that matches what you have set-up in the Happy Birthday Email app. (To check, go to Shopify Admin > Happy Birthday App > Birthday Sign-up Form and look for the Date format field).
Feel free to change the Privy Field Label from Birthday to Date of Birth or something of your choosing:
You can decide whether or not you wish to make the Birthday field required or optional by unchecking/checking the Required? checkbox.
If you do not make the field required, then not all subscribers will be added to your Birthday Club.
Hit the Save button.
That's all you need to do to ensure that new subscribers with Birthdays will be added to your Birthday Club in the Happy Birthday app.
Editing the design and wording of an existing popup
If you chose to add the Birthday field to an existing Privy campaign, then we'd recommend that you also check the design of your popup to make sure that the height and layout can accommodate the new field.
To do this, click onto your Privy Campaign and click on the to the Create tab:
In the Popup Design section, click on the Click to edit link/icon:
You will then see the Popup Designer which you can use to alter the layout and text in your popup:
We suggest that you alter the wording in the popup to explain why you're asking the subscriber for their date of birth.
Make sure you Save your changes!
