The benefit of having this data stored against a Shopify customer record
Having the customer's DOB stored as a customer note or tag is useful if you provide any type of personal recommendations services for your customers. When looking up a Customer's record, the date of birth tag or note can be useful in building a profile on which to base your recommendations.
How can I enable this feature?
The feature is very straightforward to enable.
Navigate to the Settings view within the Happy Birthday app.
Scroll down to the Advanced Features section and click on the Manage button:
We have provided the ability to add the birthdate as a customer note and/or a customer tag:
Enable one or both of the options.
The format of the tag will be a prefix of DOB: followed by the date of birth in the format you have set within the Happy Birthday app. e.g. if you have set the app to capture just the day and month, like this: DD/MM the customer note/tag will read DOB: DD/MM
The format of the Birthdate across all of your Birthday sign-up forms can be changed by going to Settings > Birthday Sign-up Form and by scrolling to the Sign-up Form Settings section:
Once enabled, the next customer to sign-up to your Birthday Club will have the Birthday applied to their Shopify customer record as a note or a tag, or both.
Backdating tags or notes for existing members of your Birthday Club
If you would like to apply birthdate tags or notes to members that signed-up to your Birthday Club before you enabled the feature, please submit a request and we will set-up a job to apply them to the corresponding Shopify customer record if one exists in your Shopify store.
Backdating tags or notes to imported members of your Birthday Club
If you are importing email addresses into Happy Birthday and have our tagging or customer note feature enabled, then we will need to process those as a separate task once the import has been completed. Please submit a request and we will set-up a job to apply them to the corresponding Shopify customer record if one exists in your Shopify store.
