Imagine the impact that could have on your conversion rate!
Personalise the subject lines and email body copy
For Merchants using the Happy Birthday app to send out their Birthday emails, the customer's first and last name can be included in both the subject line and the body message of the birthday email.
The settings for personalising your Birthday email template can be found by going to Settings > Birthday Email Campaign and then scrolling down to the Email Content section.
How to add personalisation
Personalised fields can be added to your Birthday email template as Merge Tags, which are strings of text within square brackets.
You can use the customer's first name [first_name] or/and last name [last_name] or/and email [email] as part of this field.
Simply use square brackets and the field you wish to use, for example, If you wanted to use a subject line like this:
"Happy Birthday Alex!'
Your subject line within the app would look like this:
'Happy Birthday [first_name]!'
Advanced options
You can also specify a fallback value for those customer's that may not have all of the fields populated against their stored information, i.e. no first or last name.
Fallbacks will ensure that your emails still have a personalised element to them even if you don't have the customer's name.
Just add ,fallback=Your Value to specify a fallback value, for example:
'Hi [first_name,fallback=Loyal customer],'
Using the above example, if the customer's first name is Alex, then it would display as:
"Hi Alex",
otherwise the result would be:
"Hi Loyal customer,"
Here is how those Merge Tags would appear within your email template settings:
