By scheduling a birthday discount to be sent out ahead of an upcoming birthday, we believe that your Birthday campaign is more likely to convert than by scheduling it to be sent on the day of the person's birthday.
Here are a few reasons why:
- Most of us will be asked what we'd like for our birthday by friends and family, usually one or two weeks in advance of our Birthday. If you receive a discount code for a brand that you're already familiar with ahead of that time, it will increase the likelihood that the discount code will be passed on to those loved ones along with a recommendation of product and size, which will result in a conversion.

That research will trigger a purchasing mindset and if you're anything like us, you'll usually end up buying a few things for yourself mid research. Therefore, a well scheduled birthday discount ahead of the big day can increase the likelihood of a conversion.
- People celebrate Birthdays with planned parties and trips away that will often trigger the purchase of a few new items in preparation. Scheduling a birthday discount in advance of their birthday will put your brand squarely in front of them at a time when they are most likely to shop.
From what we're seeing across the breadth of our Merchant base, scheduling the Birthday email OR SMS to be sent out 12 days ahead of a customer's birthday will give your campaign the optimal chance to convert.
